Vanishing Texas I

Our Vanishing Texas exhibit is a visual response to the concerns of its members who have seen, in their journeys across Texas, the disappearance of so much of Texas history, folklore and customs.  Some have been buried under development, some rendered obsolete by technology, and some simply abandoned or neglected for reasons as varies as the history left behind.  This exhibit will remind viewers of the importance of preservation and observation, and each viewer will be encouraged to take some time to preserve Texas history in his/her own place of being.

Austin Animal Attractions

We are currently involved in a project helping to promote the adoption of animals at the Austin Humane Society and Austin Town Lake Animal Shelter.  Members are also photographing animals at Texas Hearing and Service Dog Training Center that are currently in training or have graduated and been released to a family.  All dogs trained at the Center have been adopted from the Animal Shelter.  This exhibit is currently on display at the Austin Airport.

Texas Power

Texas Power is an exhibit showing images of all facets of Power. Texas has a diversity of energy sources, including solar, wind, water, and fuel. Of fuel power plants Texas has natural gas, coal, and nuclear powered plants. Texas is the leading state in oil production, producing about 20% of U.S. oil and natural gas. The use of wind as an energy source has its roots in antiquity. At one time, wind was the major source of power for pumping water, grinding grain and transporting goods by sailing ships. Present day applications of wind power include water pumping and the generation of electricity. Wind power is the fastest growing source of new power, and Texas is ranked 2nd in the US for production of wind generated power.
